Stephen P. Wetzel, CFP® is President and Chief Investment Officer of Prometheus Capital Management.  

He provides comprehensive financial planning and investment advice to clients from all walks of life and across a broad range of financial circumstances.  Many are business owners and professionals, soon-to-be retirees, the retired, and families facing multiple challenges of saving for their children’s college education and their own retirement and caring for aging parents.  Because of his dedication, integrity and steadfast judgment, many of Steve’s clients have come to think of him as extended family—someone whom they can depend on during life’s celebrations and crises to help keep them on track toward achieving their financial goals.  

Steve is widely quoted in the financial press, including Business Week Magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Money Magazine and Financial World and numerous articles by the Associated Press.  He has been interviewed as an industry expert on various television networks and radio shows including WHYY-TV, FOX News, the Jim BoHannon Radio Talk Show, WABC Radio, Bloomberg, and WBZ Radio.

Steve has taught at New York University since 1991 and has trained thousands of individuals in financial planning.   At NYU, Steve is currently an Adjunct Professor of Financial Management for the CFP® program.  He teaches Fundamentals of Financial Planning and The Know How to Better l Investing. He has also taught Fundamentals of Individual Investing, How to Stabilize Your Portfolio, How to Jump-Start Your CFP® Practice, Estate Planning, and Retirement Planning & Employee Benefits. He has received the Award for Outstanding Service (2000) and Award for Teaching Excellence (2002).  

He has served on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Financial Planning Association for over 10 years; most recently as President and Chairman.  He is listed in Who’s Who of Finance and Industry the Who’s Who of Entrepreneurs. Prior to his career in Financial Planning and Wealth Management, he worked as a Financial Manager for a Leveraged Buy-Out firm and in the Airline Industry for People Express Airlines.

Steve received his MBA, cum laude, in Finance and International Business from New York University (NYU). He earned his B.A., magna cum laude, in Honors Economics from the State University of New York-Stony Brook.  He has also attended Wharton Business School-University of Pennsylvania, and has an Advanced Professional Certificate in accounting from NYU's Stern Graduate Business School.

As a youth, Steve earned the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America and currently serves as Merit Badge Counselor to Troop 230 in Yardley, PA. Steve resides in Bucks County, Pennsylvania with his wife Christa and sons Brendan and Nicholas.  He is an optimistic economist, dedicated family man, perpetual teacher and aspiring triathlete.
